- Gibb River Road – West Australia

The Great Ocean Road was created as a memorial to those who fought in World War I and all builders were ex-servicemen. The 255 kilometer drive from Torquay to Warrnambool was finally completed in 1932 and has been described as one of the most beautiful in Australia. Be sure to stop at Port Campbell National Park to take in the magnificent views forged out of 10-20 million years of history resulting in the arches, gorges and blowholes you can see today.

The Birdsville Track in SA across the Tirari Desert and Sturt Stony Desert is one of SA’s most iconic drives and can be enjoyed over a single day or a whole week. Charles Sturton, the first man to venture into this part of Australia, described it as having no other parallel location on earth. This drive is a popular one for 4WD enthusiasts as it is mostly across a dirt road.

- Fraser Island
Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and crossing the near 250m high sand dunes is an unforgettable 4WD experience. The island is around 22km wide at it’s widest point and stretches a distance of 123km but even in this small space offers plenty of sights to be seen. Popular driving destinations on the island include Eli and Wanggoolba creeks and the wreck of a World War I hospital ship that washed ashore in 1935. Other destinations include Cathedrals, Pinnacles, Rainbow Gorge and the Rocky headlands.
