Gold Coast Car Hire

The Gold Coast is a world class holiday and entertainment destination famous for it’s beaches, hotels and theme parks; also one of the world’s most famous surfing beaches: Duranbah. When you think of the Gold Coast, think of the sun, the ocean, swimming, sand and tourists mingling with locals like old friends. You’ll definitely need a hire car on your trip to the Gold Coast since there’s over 70 kilometres of beach to visit, 35 of which are within the vicinity of the city!

There are two easy ways to visit the Gold Coast from abroad – take a normal flight to Brisbane airport, pick up a hire car to make the hour long drive down to the Gold Coast. Alternatively you can take a cheaper flight into the Gold Coast and pick up your rental car there – however there are fewer flights to the Gold Coast airport and it is serviced by fewer airlines so be sure to plan accordingly.

The Gold Coast also has a buzzing nightlife full of local and visiting youth, older tourists, buskers and even those visiting from the nearby capital city, Brisbane. Take note that in November the Gold Coast is taken over by Schoolies week, a nation wide celebration of it’s youth completing high school and moving into higher education and the workforce – only registered high school graduates are allowed in most areas during this time.

The Gold Coast is primarily geared towards providing a fun environment for young people but is equally attractive to many older tourists and retirees – and of course, surfers. Having a hire car will also enable you to visit the surrounding theme parks such as Dreamworld, Warner Brothers’ Movie World, Wet ‘n’ Wild and White Water World.

If you’re visiting beaches on the Gold Coast remember to always swim between the red and yellow flags where the life guards can keep an eye on you. This way they can save you from any potential dangers or changes in the tide.
